The Summer Months 2013: June, Alaska style!

Well, I better get crackin' since my second leading lady will come into the world soon (two ish weeks till due date), and I probably wont have time to back-track on events. By the way, I was looking over some old stuff I had posted about Lily and I really hope I can keep up with it for this next little one. It's so fun to see what was going on during those moments and the highlights. I've gotta commit!

June--well, we arrived in Anchorage, AK on May 27, and were planning on staying for 9 days. We had this whole elaborate travel plan scheduled so that we could move to our new home in Gaithersburg, Maryland and be a happy little family for a whole month before Daniel left for the Air force boot camp (Officer Training). Boy, were we wrong!!!

Not only did all that fall through, but we were in Alaska over a month! Why, might you ask? One answer....Military! We were told that Daniel would get his orders to travel to his first duty station (Maryland) by the beginning of June, but he actually didn't get them until only a few days before he had to report to Officer Training in Alabama. I think it was about a week, actually. Man, life was crazy for a while. But, you know, we all got through it and everything ended up peachy in the end. We had a great time staying with family (with stayed with Uncle Richard and Aunt Trina since there were foster kiddos at the parents), and it was nice to be around something familiar for that long even though the time of waiting was stressful. Lily got to stay around her aunts and grandma and grandpa a lot and we generally had a really good time. We got our Alaska pride in and dreamed about when we would move back and live. We sure love that place. I really miss it just writing this. We didn't get to do a lot of things that we would have done if we knew we would be staying that long (nice sentence, huh--i sound like Bilbo), but we did what was important and that was being around family. They were a great support while we played the waiting game.

Oh, military life! It was definitely an interesting introduction and it got even better in July!

Our morning visitors. Lily's response was great, "A Moose!" Now, every time she see the Chick-fil-A cows, she calls them moose.

visiting grandpa Bohman's grave on Memorial Day.

Daniel, Emma, Justin, and Ty on a hike up the Butte.

We got to ride on Uncle Bill's boat. :)

Best investment ever. Baby backpack never fails.

Visiting Matanuska (sp?) Glacier with Grace.

Hana went on a trek.

We went on an adventure through Arc Angel hike in Hatcher Pass!

Like I said, there were many things we didn't get to do and a lot of things we did do, that neither one of us documented. Oh well, "C'est Lagain."
