Yes, it has been a while since the last post. I debated on whether or not to update the blog or update my journal...both have been highly neglected, but I opted for the less hand-cramping of the two, and here goes my stream of consciousness:
Since I last wrote, our little Bohman family has moved to the great state of Alaska, and moved into a fancy-pants log home. It's not much...just 4,600 sq.ft. Honestly, though, it's an amazing house with a great view of the mountains, a frozen lake and lots and lots of trees. The only problem is the fact that it's 4,600 sq.ft. and we are just three tiny people...Lily is the tiniest. Here's the back story. The doctor Daniel interns with owns this place. No one has lived here for a while, but they need to keep the place running (heat, water, etc) during the winter for the sake of keeping everything running in the future. The only furniture items are a nice couch in the big room, a couple of fold out tables, chairs, and a king bed and tv in the master bedroom. We didn't have internet for the first month we lived here, but thanks to a baby keeping me on my toes and a good book to get me through the slow times (Inheritance) and the BBC Blue Planet, Life, and Planet Earth to give me some British white noise, I made it through the darkest of the day. Literally, the days were short and it was dark a lot. But, Alaska is great and God is good and we have been getting 5 mins of extra sunlight a day! Now, the sun doesn't go down til 7:30pm. Crazy, since only a few weeks ago, it was like 5:00 pm.
Since the place is so big, we basically lived in the master bedroom and bathroom just because we were used to small spaces. Now, we are spoiled and love the openness of this place. We had the Bohman family come down for President's holiday and it was the funnest time. I was like, finally we have a place to host a lot of people, only it wont last that long. Sadly, this living quaters is only temporary and we may be out soon...still up in the air. But, wherever we end up, we will still be in Kenai until the end of August and...the good times will keep rolling.
Now, let's get to the good stuff: Lillian!
Lily is an amazing little lady. She is super attentive and has quite the personality. I wonder where she get's it from ;). By the way, everyone always comments that she is mad, just because she furrows her brow a lot. Uh hum, yes, yes, folks she also got that one from me. I furrow my brow a lot...I might just be doing it right now. :)
She has grown so much; time is really going by too fast. She has more hair on her head. It looks dark most of the time, but right after we give her a bath, it looks a little blonde. Daniel says that there's some red in there. I think that is just wishful thinking since he dreams of having a child with red curly hair. I quickly said, "yeah, neither one of us has a curly or red gene in our body." Speaking of baths, Lily loves bath time! She's like a little whale...hehe
Lily loves to touch things. Her favorite thing right now is the table cloth, but she also loves Daddy's arm hair. Her favorite chew toy is a pair of polka-dot tights.
She is a super stander...I mean it. She started putting pressure on her legs around 6 weeks and by 8 weeks she was supporting her weight. Now, she's a standing queen. That's her favorite time to look at things. She loves spending time with her dad. She and I both love it when he comes home and are ready to shower him with love. Daniel really likes to take Lily out on adventures on his snowshoes, so we invested in a pair of snowshoes for me and now the whole family can enjoy the snow.
Ah, Alaska! It really has snowed here so much; i've never seen this much accumulation. We also got to to watch the northern lights! Will we make this our home someday? I think so.
